Floors

Did you know the average person refreshes their floors every seven years? In that same time, a puppy would become an old dog, and a kindergartner would become a teenager.

No wonder it feels like you’re starting from scratch every time you think about getting new floors.

FOUR SIMPLE QUESTIONS TO ASK ABOUT YOUR NEW FLOORS

To make things a little simpler, here is a brief list of questions to ask yourself (and others) BEFORE you choose an installer or walk into a flooring showroom.

  1. What are my personal tastes? … Am I drawn to hardwood or carpet or something else? Do I want my floors to be a centerpiece in my home, or something neutral to support the room?
  2. What is my lifestyle? … Do I have pets, small children or is my home adults only? Do I like to entertain? How much time do I want to spend caring for my floors?
  3. What is my budget? … Along with this one, make sure you get a general sense of what flooring materials cost in your area. And remember, quality materials and experienced installers will cost a little more.
  4. What do I know about the flooring pro? … Is he or she licensed? How many years of experience do they have? Do they have a history of designing and installing the kind of floors you are interested in? Can they prove it? NOTE: They should have past customers they can refer you to. Or, even better, will have real projects they can show you.
